Fifth seeded and two times Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal was stunned by world number 135 Steve Darcis as he went down 7-6(4) 7-6(8) 6-3 in the first round.

This is the first time ever the Spaniard has exited a Grand Slam event in the first round, the loss also means that we will not have a mouth watering quarter final at Wimbledon between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Earlier in the day Roger Federer advanced to Wimbledon's 2nd round as he dismantled Victor Hanescu of Romania 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 in a match lasting only 68 minutes.

Andy Murray advanced to round two at Wimbledon after a 6-4 6-3 6-2 win against German Benjamin Becker.
