Real Madrid President Florentino Perez had announced in a press conference on Monday at the Bernabéu stadium at 20:00 (Spanish time) the exit of the Portuguese manager after the meeting of the board of directors.

Perez confirmed that Mou wasn't sacked as it was a mutual agreement between both to end business after three years.

"We've decided to bring our relationship to an end," said Perez. "Nobody has been sacked, it's a mutual agreement."

"The club and manager agree the timing is right to bring out relationship to an end,
On behalf of the board of directors, I would like to thank Jose Mourinho for all his hard work." he added.

Real's President also stressed out that no pre-contract had been done with any other manager:
"We have no pre-contract signed with any managerial candidate - it's something we'll look at in the coming days". Perez said in his press conference.

Mourinho who joined Real Madrid in summer of 2010, was mainly hired to bring the 10th European Cup to the Spanish capital but failed in three successive occasions to reach the final, and this year was "his worst career year ever" as he described it, where Real couldn't win any major trophy.
