Inter appoints Mazzarri as new coach

Walter Mazzarri has signed a two years contract with Inter Milan hours after the club sacked Andrea Stramaccioni due to a disappointing season where the  Nerazzurri finished in the ninth place.

Mazzarri who joined Napoli in 2009 and since then they became a force in Seria A, Italian Cup winners last year and they were on the brink of the quarter final of the Champions League in 2011/2012 season, where they won on Chelsea 3-1 at home but lost 4-1 (after extra time) at Stamford Bridge.

In a statement on their website Inter said: "FC Internazionale would like to announce that the club has appointed Walter Mazzarri as the new head coach."

"FC Internazionale would like to thank Andrea Stramaccioni for the great commitment and professionalism he showed in a particularly difficult year. Walter Mazzarri has signed a two-year deal.", they added.

However, Mazzarri will only compete at Serie A and Italian cup next season, as the club failed to qualify to any European competition.
