Atletico Madrid stun Real to win Copa del Rey

Atletico Madrid came from behind to beat Real Madrid 2-1 after 120 minutes, which witnessed a ban for Mourinho from the bench and a red card for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid looked on course for their 19th cup when Ronlado drew first blood after 14 minutes from a corner kick, however Diego Costa leveled for his team from 20 yards, 10 minutes from half time, after an amazing dribble and pass from Falcao.

Real then came very close to lead the scoreboard again after they hit the woodwork in three occasions from Mesut Ozil, Karim Benzema and Ronaldo.

The evening then turned into a chaotic event after Mourinho was sent off in the 77th minute for remonstrating with the referee and he went down the tunnel directly.

Atletico Madrid took the lead in the extra time after Miranda converted a cross to put his side 11 minutes away from Copa del Rey glory and ending 14 years curse against their neighbors, Real chances of coming back faded away when their top scorer Ronaldo saw a Red for lashing out at Gabi six minutes from the final whistle.

Atletico held their nerves in the final minutes to stun Los Blancos and lift their 10th cup after a dramatic evening.
