AS Monaco had confirmed that they have completed a massive deal with FC Porto to sign stars Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez for 70 million euros, Rodriguez taking the big share of the deal with 45 million euros to become the most expensive player in French football history.

Despite being just promoted to Ligue 1, the French team who are backed by Russian billionare Dmitry Rybolovlev since 2011 are looking to spend more money as they are linked with some big profiles including Atletico Madrid striker Falcao, Patrice Evra, Wayne Rooney and Victor Valdes.

Monaco will compete with another big spending team, Ligue 1 champions PSG, to clinch their first domestic title since 2000 and try to be present in the season after for the champions league.

A statement on the club's website confirmed the deal: "Monaco FC is glad to reach an agreement with FC Porto and players Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez for their transfers to ASMFC, for the season 2013-2014".

“Joao Filipe Iria Santos Moutinho, 26 years old, international Portuguese midfielder, has signed a 5-year-contract and James David Rodriguez Rubio, International Colombian forward, has signed a 5-year-contract." they added.
