Defending champion Rafael Nadal edged world number one Novak Djokovic 6-4 3-6 6-1 6-7(3) 9-7 to reach French Open final for the eighth time in nine years.
Nadal seemed all set to close out the match in the fourth set when he was 6-5 up and serving for a place in the final, but Djokovic decided otherwise as he broke the Spaniard and won the tie-break (7-3) to take the match to a decisive fifth set.
The decider started with a break of serve for Nole as he went 4-2 up until Rafa broke back in the seventh game, and again in the 16th game to book his place in the final.
