Andy Murray thrashed world number one Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-4 7-5 6-4 to become the first British male player to win the all grass court competition since Fred Perry in 1936.

The top two seeds, as expected put on some brilliant tennis but Andy was the better player from the start till the end of the match.

With nine aces, 72% of points won on 1st serve, 36 winners and only 21 unforced errors compared to 40 for Djokovic, the win was inevitable for the Scot number one.

Novak saved three championship points as Murray was serving for the match at 5-4, he even had three break-back points in that game, but the Briton saved them all, bringing up later a fourth championship point which he finally took after forcing Nole to net a volley.

“Before the final game I was thinking where I was going to put my first serve, because often when you’re serving for such a match the first point will be crucial.", Andy said after the match.

"Then after winning the first three points it was the hardest game ever, the hardest few points I ever played. At the end of the match I didn't quite know what was going on. It’s been a blur from then to now. Winning Wimbledon is the top of tennis.”, he added.
