What will make the impossible possible for Barcelona

As we all agree that there is nothing impossible in football and that anything can be achieved when the team believe that it is achievable. Many factors will help do the job here such as having the talents that can play a big part in such comebacks which Barcelona surely has, another thing (and I think it is what will pay) is the players being in a state of mind that "yes, we can do it", we can score four goals in 90 minutes just as Bayern scored four in the same time.

We can say many things and put hundreds of plans that Barca should stick to in order to turn the table on Bayern, but I will sum everything by saying that Barca should play a match that is exactly as their match against AC Milan in the return leg at the Camp Nou this year. That was by far one of the best matches that they ever played, Barca must try as hard as possible to score in the first 10 minutes and try to be very aggressive because by every minute passing Bayern defense will be stronger and the Catalans mission will be harder.

One more thing they should take into account is to make their attempts faster and with less passes around the opponent's box. They can do it by trying to shoot from the outside whenever they can and play more deeply than depending on the wings since with the crosses it is about 70% that the German defense will have the upper hand.

Will this plan gurantee that the Catalans will be in the final? off course not, for 2 simple reasons:
1- Coming back from 2-0 down isn't the same as coming back from 4-0 down.
2- Bayern Munich isn't AC Milan, no offense for the Italians but Bayern are very strong this season.

Just to give some hope for all Barcelona's fans around the world, here are some of the best comebacks which I can remember:

  1. Liverpool scoring 3 goals in the 2nd half against AC Milan in 2005 Champions League Final after AC Milan assumed that they finished the job in the 1st 45 minutes by scoring 3 goals (Liverpool went on to win the CL this year 3-2 on penalties).
  2. Manchester United scoring 2 goals against Bayern in the injury time to win the CL in 1999 2-1.
  3. Manchester City scoring 2 goals against QPR in 90+2 and 90+4 minutes to claim the EPL in 2012 after winning 3-2
  4. Barcelona winning 4-0 against AC Milan in CL 2013 round of 16 after losing 2-0 at the san siro.

Why did Barcelona & Real Madrid suffer huge defeats

When you are away from real competition for a while, you can't expect to be able to compete with teams playing every week matches at a very high level. These teams will be into the game minutes after the kickoff and they will be playing much more seriously since this is what they are doing all year.

And back to our subject this is exactly what happened to the Spanish giants this week at Champions League semis. Bayern were about to score in the first minute of their match against Barcelona before crushing them 4-0 (which could have been worse) and Dortmund dominated their whole match and scored early on in the 8th minute.

Also what we noticed is that Bayern were still on the same level after they went 3-0 up and Heynckes didn't start thinking about making changes by pulling out some forwards and supporting his team's defense but on the contrary they were making more and more attacks until they scored the fourth goal since as I mentioned they are familiar with this pace of games.

As for the other match it was a very similar scenario but Dortmund this time had to deal with another type of pressure which is Ronaldo's equalizer at the end of the first half where they dealt with in the most impressive way you could ever seen. The way Dortmund played in the second half was absolutely stunning and sensational, and for a coach like Mourinho to suffer such a defeat from a team he played twice 3-4 months ago can tell you that Lewandowski, Rues, Götze and especially Klopp were at a very higher level then Mourinho and his players.

So unless La Liga will have more competition in the future and not one team securing the league and the other securing a Champion's League position from the first half of the season, I expect Both Barca and Real will continue suffering in the Uefa Competition which if they both went out next week will be the second year in a raw.
